IMPORTANT UPDATE: We got the details a bit wrong for the lawsuit involving FP Journe and Jaquet Droz. You can attribute this to a poor comprehension of legal texts translated from French (won’t try that again). The actual details are simple. FP Journe sued Jaquet Droz for copying one of its watch designs. Jaquet Droz defended that it copied designs from a much older pocket watch. After 5 or so years of legal battle and at least one appeal, the court held in favor of the defendant Jaquet Droz twice. Finally holding that FP Journe pay Jaquet Droz damages for legal fees, as Jaquet Droz was the winner in the case. If these details still aren’t accurate - then no one but the French and Swiss courts are ever going to understand this case!
